With my buddies so far, we've only completed the first box on the checklist. This is the one that says to select the person, begin research, and select print source. Right now, Angela and Jace are working on completing their research and basic outline. The most difficult task about working with my buddies is that they work at two completely different paces. Jace is almost done with his entire outline, while Angela is barely done with her first chapter. One of the main problems I have is that whenever I am helping Jace with anything, Angela gets completely off task and starts looking around at everyone else and not working. I then have to reel her back in, and her attention only stays on that task for a short time. I've been trying to check in her every few minutes now, even if I'm working with Jace. One thing that goes very well is the fact that both of my buddies are tech savvy, and they know how to use the iPads better than I do, so I don't have to help much with that aspect. I think one way that I am supportive is by helping them summarize what they are reading so they are not just copying information word for word, I also help suggest different ideas while not putting their ideas down. Our plans for the next session include getting research in their outlines from their print source, I've asked both of them to make sure they bring their books with them to our session. Also, we will try to complete their basic outlines this week and start on the rough draft packet.
